Stripe launches Projects CLI for AI coding agents
Databricks announced it is a launch partner for Stripe Projects, a new command-line interface tool unveiled at Stripe Sessions 2026 on Monday that allows AI coding agents to autonomously discover, provision, and pay for developer infrastructure — including Neon Postgres databases — without human intervention. The partnership addresses what Databricks describes as a critical gap in AI-driven software development: while coding agents can scaffold and deploy full-stack applications in minutes, provisioning the underlying infrastructure still requires manual steps like navigating dashboards, configuring accounts, and entering payment information.

How It Works
Stripe Projects acts as a unified CLI layer through which AI agents can set up an entire development stack — hosting, databases, authentication, analytics, and more — in a single workflow. Through the Databricks integration, agents can spin up a production-ready Neon Postgres database in under 350 milliseconds, with no human interaction required. The system relies on Stripe as an identity provider. When a user signs in to their Stripe account, the CLI can authenticate with third-party services and provision resources on the agent's behalf, creating new accounts automatically if none exist. Cloudflare, Netlify, and PlanetScale are among the other launch partners for Stripe Projects.
Lakebase Architecture Powers Neon Integration
The integration is built on Databricks' Lakebase architecture, which became generally available in March 2026. Lakebase is a serverless Postgres service that decouples compute from storage, enabling features like instant database branching through zero-copy cloning, automatic scaling, and scale-to-zero when idle. Databricks argues these properties make Lakebase particularly suited to agentic workflows. "Agents understand Postgres better than any other OLTP database, meaning that software development using the Lakebase architecture is quick and easily automated," the company said in a blog post.
Stripe Data Pipeline Comes to Databricks
Separately, Databricks also announced that Stripe Data Pipeline is now available on the Databricks Marketplace, allowing Stripe customers to sync payment and business data directly into their Databricks environment without third-party ETL tools. Stripe had previously supported syncing to Snowflake and Amazon Redshift, with Google BigQuery support expected later this year. The announcements came as part of a broader push at Stripe Sessions 2026, where the payments company unveiled 288 new products and features to more than 9,000 attendees, with agentic commerce and AI infrastructure forming a central theme.
